Church of Christ
WHO WE ARE
"Who was that at our door (or emailed us a letter)? " you may have asked.
So in case you are wondering who we are and who we represent, We would like to give you a brief explanation.
Let us begin by telling you who we are NOT.
-
We are NOT Jehovah's Witnesses
-
We are NOT Mormons
-
We are NOT Seventh Day Adventist
-
We are NOT (Black) Hebrew Israelites
-
We are NOT Baptist, Methodist, Roman Catholics, or Presbyterians. In fact, we are not a part of any denomination, or any religious organization founded by a person.
We ARE Christians (Acts 11:26) and strive to glorify God in that name (I Peter 4:16). It is a worthy name (James 2:7) and the one we should use to the exclusion of other titles such as Catholic, Baptist, Episcopalian, Methodist, etc. So, we are only Christians just like they were about 2,000 years ago in the time of the apostles which you read about in the book of Acts of your Bible.
The church to which we belong is simply the church you read about in the New Testament. The church, according to the New Testament, is NOT a building but is the body of baptized believers in Christ. We are members in particular of the church which Jesus built (Matthew 16:18) and which He purchased with His blood (Acts 20:28).
Therefore, we represent Jesus Christ.
We are His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20)
About 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ built ONE church
(Matthew 16:18) which began on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:36-47). If Jesus built ONE church about 2,000 years ago, where did the hundreds of other churches come from since that time?
The only answer is that man started them. But Jesus promises that the man-made (churches founded by men) will be "rooted up." "Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be "rooted up" (Matthew 15:13).
The following is a list of when men started (founded) some of these churches. Notice the name of their founder and the location and year they were started. It is sad that most people in "religion" today often think of Christianity as beginning with the "Catholic Church" when in fact Catholicism was started nearly five centuries after the church Jesus build was already in existence and early Catholics never called or considered themselves Christians!

More Detail Information of Denominations
The founder of the church you read about in the New Testament is Jesus Christ. He and He alone is the builder (Matthew 16:18) and the purchaser (Acts 20:28).
Not only is Jesus Christ the founder, but He is also the foundation of the church. "For other foundation can no man lay than that he is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (I Corinthians 3:11). Jesus is also the chief cornerstone. "...Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone"
(Ephesians 2:20; read verse 19-22).
Jesus prayed that those who believed on Him would all be one. "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me" (John 17:20,21).
There you have it! It was the prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ that ALL Christians "be ONE". However, because of all the divisions in the religious world, the world does NOT believe Jesus.
Some who even read these scriptures will still be angry about the truth reveal on this page because they have more loyalty to their man-made denomination (churches founded by men) than they have to the Lord Jesus Christ. The word "denomination" basically implies division. What does the Bible say about this? "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye ALL speak the same thing, and that there be NO DIVISIONS among you; but that ye all be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement" (I Corinthians 1:10). Such division would be included in the list of sins given in Galatians 5:19-21) and would come under the words "seditions and "heresies" (as found in the KJV).
We can only be saved by the blood of Christ, that was shed for us on the cross (I Peter 1:19, 20), Colossians 1:20-23). It alone can wash away our sins (Revelation 1:5). Therefore, since Jesus purchased His church with His own blood (Acts 20:28), we must belong to His church to be saved. If a person can be saved outside of your church, you can know that it is NOT the church that Jesus built and purchased with His own blood. Those who are saved according to the Bible (Psalms 119:41,42; I Peter 1:23) are added to the church (Acts 2:41,47). You do NOT "join" the Lord's church but are "added " it when you are saved the same way the 3,000 were on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:38.39).
People often say, "this is so plain and simple". Soon they ask, "how do we end up with so many churches with conflicting names and teachings?" It is important to realize that most denominations have some other book besides the Bible that they use to "guide them" as to how to believe and how to conduct "their church" affairs.
The following is a partial list of "other" books that are used:
-
Roman Catholics Catechism
-
Episcopalians Book of Common Prayer
-
Methodists Discipline
-
Baptists Hiscox's Standard Manual
-
Lutherans Luther's Shorter Catechism
-
Presbyterians Westminister Confessional
-
Jehovah's Witnesses The Watchtower
-
Mormons (LDS) Book of Mormon, D&C, and others
-
7th Day Adventist Writings of Ellen G. White
In the beginning, in the middle, at the end of the Bible, we are warned NOT to add anything to it, not take anything from it (Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32; Proverbs 30:5,6, Revelation 22:18,19). These books have led to confusion (I Corinthians 14:33) and "the commandments of men" For any religious group to use such books make its worship in vain. Jesus said, "But in vain do they worship ne teaching for doctrines the commandments of men" (Matthew 15:9). The Bible is all we need (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
The purpose of presenting this information is to assure you that we represent only Jesus Christ and His church as described in the New Testament. We are striving to pattern the church today as close to the New Testament as possible. We want to make all things according to the pattern (Hebrews 8:5) laid out for us in the New Testament by Jesus and the apostles.
If you have any questions or comments about this information, CONTACT us TODAY. We would be happy to hear from you. We are very concerned about the divisive, delusional and damnable teachings of men that have flooded our communities, nation and world and have led to growth in agnosticism, atheism and a massive decline in people seeking to come to Christ for salvation. Christ prayed that we ALL be ONE in His church while denominations of men teach people to "choose a church of your choice" as long as you are sincere. Which "way" have you chosen to follow? (Matthew 7:13-14).
